As his contribution to Beethoven Year 2027 and building on his past successes in 2019 and 2020 in Salzburg and Hamburg, stellar pianist, Igor Levit returns to his acclaimed cycle of Beethoven Sonatas showcasing Beethoven’s 32 Piano Sonatas across eighty-three concerts and covering two whole seasons. The concerts are spanning from October 2026 to June 2028 covering a huge range of venues including New York, London, Vienna, Berlin, Paris, Zurich, Milan, Amsterdam, Warsaw, Lisbon, Prague together with a North American tour.

Seven years later, Igor Levit has picked up the threads of those concert plans and will continue with the concert series he began in 2019, adding even more dates to the mix. “For me, Beethoven is everything! These concerts during the forthcoming two years will be for me a journey through so many emotions – happiness, hopefulness, love, pain, desperation, sadness and so much more. These Sonatas represent for me a compendium of everything of which we humans are capable emotionally”.

“It’s such a massive gift to be able to play the complete Beethoven Sonatas cycle again in front of an audience, especially during the Beethoven Year celebrations” notes Igor Levit cheerfully. “Although the global pandemic interrupted so much in the world of culture and our lives since then have changed so much and we have had to move on, still the Sonatas are a constant for me. I can hardly wait to unleash this music again with all its movement and emotion and to bring these works back out into the world”.
