Diana Damrau, Jonas Kaufmann and Helmut Deutsch on successful tour in Europe in March and April 2022

LOVE SONGS BY ROBERT SCHUMANN AND JOHANNES BRAHMS

Press comments:

“Lyrical dream couple for German romanticism”.
“Damrau and Kaufmann mastered this kind of emotionality virtuously with mimic and musical ease, congenially accompanied on the piano by Helmut Deutsch, who also provided for the song arrangement” Die Presse from 14.04.2022

“Two World Stars of Classical Music in Hamburg” Hamburger Abendblatt from 12.04.2022

“Fascinating, and complemented by the golden thread of Damrau’s cantabile”
“It was such a treat to hear the duets, rarities which, performed by two such musicians, become the finest of the finest.” Opera Today from 30.03.2022

“There is the reigning king of tenors and audience favourite Jonas Kaufmann, then the grand master of effortlessly warbled coloratura, Diana Damrau, as well as the piano wizard Helmut Deutsch, whom many lieder singers swear by as an accompanist, because Deutsch remains present in the quiet, never pressures his fellow musicians and seems married to the spirit of romanticism,” Süddeutsche Zeitung from 22.3.2022

“Beyond the sympathetic stage performance of the two star friends Jonas and Diana, one can hear Lied of very, very high quality, that is to say sober and powerfully poetic. We’d love to have a slice of it again, in the form of a CD.” Resmusica from 31.03.2022

“The temperature rose especially with the duets and Kaufmann’s restrained way of observing the soprano. A Damrau with magic and brilliance, and a luminous look of happiness from which he seems to want to drink. The audience in the Palau no longer knew whether to abandon themselves to exultant joy and the yearning for unresolved passion…” Lavanguardia from 09.04.2022

“Finally cheers, standing ovations.” Der Standard from 15.04.2022

Diana Damrau and Jonas Kaufmann interpret love songs by the two most important song composers of the Romantic period and present a concert evening full of stirring emotions.
They sing of love in all its facets: from reverie and longing, from the happiness of fulfilment to disappointment, resignation and renunciation. The two artists are accompanied by their long-time partner on the piano, Helmut Deutsch.
